DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a pragmatic and forward-thinking DevOps Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be entrusted with the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of OpenSSL’s infrastructure. You will ensure our systems remain stable, secure, and high-performing.

Your expertise will drive the automation of business workflows by leveraging scripting and RESTful APIs. You will design and implement robust tooling, from infrastructure-as-code deployments to custom reporting dashboards.

A strong grasp of Linux/Unix systems, API testing, and CI/CD practices is essential. Just as important, you will embody and promote OpenSSL’s mission and values through your day-to-day contributions and technical leadership.

This position requires occasional attendance at meetings during non-standard hours due to our global team in Europe, North America, and Australia. The role is primarily within European business hours but requires adaptability to diverse schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and scale OpenSSL’s core infrastructure.
• Ensuring system stability, security, and performance by implementing monitoring, preventive maintenance, and compliance.
• Design and implement robust automation solutions to streamline business workflows across various systems using RESTful APIs and scripting.
• Build custom monitoring and reporting tools.    
• Write reusable, well-documented scripts and tools in Python.
• Conduct API-level testing and debugging.
• Own and manage infrastructure-as-code deployments.
• Documenting systems, procedures, and protocols for internal use and community transparency.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency with Linux and Unix-based systems.
• Good knowledge of scripting languages.
• Experience with CI/CD tools.
• Working knowledge of BPMN.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Experience in implementing reporting tools such as Google Looker.
• Ability to use web services APIs for automation purposes.
