Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an AI Engineer to join our fully remote tech team.
You will build and improve Flowpay’s AI agents across customer support, onboarding, collections, risk and advisory. Your work will directly influence how thousands of SMEs interact with our product.
Your mission will involve prompt engineering, agent behavior design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and multi-step reasoning frameworks. You will work closely with Backend, UX, and Data teams to safely integrate AI into our workflows and product.

Your responsibilities

Work within our cross-functional team consisting of Product Managers, UX Designers, Engineering Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend and Backend Engineers.
Design and develop AI agents supporting our core workflows (support, onboarding, collections, risk, advisory).
Understand requirements and scope to propose and build robust AI-driven solutions.
Build prompt engineering systems and define agent behavior, reasoning patterns and safety guardrails.
Develop and maintain RAG pipelines (indexing, embeddings, retrieval logic).
Implement multi-step reasoning, planning logic and tool-use strategies for agents.
Integrate AI components into our backend services and internal tools.
Create and maintain automated tests, monitoring dashboards and documentation.
Identify and resolve issues, hallucinations, and performance bottlenecks in AI systems.

How do we imagine you?

Strong experience with Python, experience with Java is a plus.
Knowledge of LLMs, agent frameworks and prompt engineering.
Good understanding of APIs and backend integration.
Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings and retrieval systems for RAG.
Experience with orchestration frameworks and model APIs.
Experience with multi-step reasoning or planning agents is a plus.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment - pragmatic, iterative, and ownership-driven.
The ideal candidate has experience with traditional machine learning techniques for scoring, prediction, classification, and financial modeling. They can also contribute to data engineering tasks, including data ingestion, transformation, feature engineering, and dataset management.
