Role overview
The QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality automated tests for our web application hosted on AWS. This role is a blend of hands-on test development, creative problem solving, and collaboration with developers to ensure our product quality meets the highest standards.
You will take ownership of our existing Playwright-based test framework, expanded coverage with well-structured and effective tests, and introduction modern testing best practices to help us build a more reliable product.
A day in the life…
- Collaborate with developers to define test coverage for new and existing features.
- Write and maintain automated E2E tests in TypeScript using Playwright.
- Design and implement smarter testing strategies, including:
- Leveraging custom testing utilities to prepare and verify application state.
- Performing multi-layer validations across APIs, UI, and data storage.
- Simulating advanced user workflows to ensure realistic coverage.
- Continuously improve test structure, reusability, and maintainability following modern best practices.
- Monitor and maintain automated test runs in the CI/CD pipeline.
- Investigate test failures, debug issues, and propose fixes to ensure stable releases.
- Stay informed about modern testing trends (e.g., contract testing, visual regression, test flakiness reduction) and suggest process improvements.
- Participate in code reviews for test automation code to maintain high standards.
What we are looking for…
Experience and skills:
- 1–3 years of experience in test automation (E2E/UI/API).
- Proficiency in TypeScript for writing and debugging automated tests.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, or Cypress.
- Understanding of the testing pyramid (E2E, integration, unit) and when to apply each.
- Experience working with REST APIs and performing backend validations.
- Knowledge of test data management (factories, mocks, stubs).
- Familiarity with git and CI/CD workflows.
- Basic understanding of AWS or cloud-based environments.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of visual regression testing tools.
- Awareness of contract testing and test container usage.
- Basic performance testing knowledge.
- Exposure to PHP-based systems (helpful but not required).
