Role overview

The QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-quality automated tests for our web application hosted on AWS. This role is a blend of hands-on test development, creative problem solving, and collaboration with developers to ensure our product quality meets the highest standards.

You will take ownership of our existing Playwright-based test framework, expanded coverage with well-structured and effective tests, and introduction modern testing best practices to help us build a more reliable product.

A day in the life…

Collaborate with developers to define test coverage for new and existing features.
Write and maintain automated E2E tests in TypeScript using Playwright.
Design and implement smarter testing strategies, including:
Leveraging custom testing utilities to prepare and verify application state.
Performing multi-layer validations across APIs, UI, and data storage.
Simulating advanced user workflows to ensure realistic coverage.
Continuously improve test structure, reusability, and maintainability following modern best practices.
Monitor and maintain automated test runs in the CI/CD pipeline.
Investigate test failures, debug issues, and propose fixes to ensure stable releases.
Stay informed about modern testing trends (e.g., contract testing, visual regression, test flakiness reduction) and suggest process improvements.
Participate in code reviews for test automation code to maintain high standards.

What we are looking for…

Experience and skills:

1–3 years of experience in test automation (E2E/UI/API).
Proficiency in TypeScript for writing and debugging automated tests.
Hands-on experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, or Cypress.
Understanding of the testing pyramid (E2E, integration, unit) and when to apply each.
Experience working with REST APIs and performing backend validations.
Knowledge of test data management (factories, mocks, stubs).
Familiarity with git and CI/CD workflows.
Basic understanding of AWS or cloud-based environments.

Nice to have:

Knowledge of visual regression testing tools.
Awareness of contract testing and test container usage.
Basic performance testing knowledge.
Exposure to PHP-based systems (helpful but not required).
