Engineering Manager - Healthtech

As our Software Engineering Manager you will be responsible for the design, architecture and development of the Electronic Health Record used by our Physicians and Care Team. You will have the ability to drive the entire feature set end to end from creating an experience for business and clinical rules creation to building the event driven service to model health care rules (both clinical, financial and behavioural) to backend storage to efficiently manage and maintain a scalable service and experience.

 What you’ll do 

• Manage an agile team, focusing on one or more specific aspects of a product or product area. 
• Contribute to feature development on both the Front End (React, Next.js) and Back End (Python, Django), including performing code reviews, system design and working on individual deliverables when necessary 
• Collaborate with Product Management and other teams within the organization to fulfill commitments and participate in cross-company initiatives as needed. 
• Build and maintain a strong team, capable of implementing the charter and vision set by leadership. 
• Align team goals with business needs, ensuring transparency in the decision-making process. 
• Structure the team and assign work to maximize contributions in communication, productivity, and innovation. 
• Work with team members to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) that support the team’s mission and business strategy. 
• Partner with management to implement metrics that effectively monitor team performance. 
• Provide timely feedback in 1-on-1 meetings and team discussions, documenting employee performance to address retention risks. 
• Develop and execute career development plans to prepare team members for future roles.

What we’re looking for 

• Experience developing Web Applications and Services using ideally JavaScript and/ or Python as the primary programming language (5+ years) 
• Prior experience of managing a high-performing agile team, fostering collaboration, and delivering impactful projects (2+ years) 
• Skilled in leveraging GitHub (or similar tools) for version control and implementing GitHub Actions (or similar tools) for robust CI/CD pipelines. 
• Proficient in Jira and Atlassian tools (or similar tools) for project management and productivity measurement. 
• Extensive experience deploying, maintaining and debugging web services connected to databases on AWS (or similar platforms), ensuring scalability, performance, and security. 
• Experiencing partnering with Product, and Design to build and ship features quickly 
• Bonus Points 
• Experience with Front End Microservice Architecture and Back-End Microservice Architecture 
• Experience with Continuous Delivery, and Feature Flagging or Rollouts 
• Experience in the e-commerce or telemedicine space
