About the role
We’re looking for a Test Automation Engineer (Playwright) for a part-time contract engagement (6 months) to improve and expand our end-to-end (E2E) automated test suite. You’ll work closely with our frontend and backend engineers to identify critical workflows, implement reliable Playwright tests, and help define a testing strategy that supports long-term stability and scalability.

The primary goal for the initial contract is to:

  • Map out our existing E2E test coverage,

  • Define key user journeys and scenarios that should be tested,

  • And then improve coverage by implementing tests for the most important flows that are not yet covered.

We don’t have a dedicated QA department - robust automated testing is essential to our development process and quality assurance. This role is perfect for someone who loves building testing systems that developers can rely on, and who enjoys proactively driving quality across teams.

In this role you will:

  • Design, write, and maintain E2E test cases using Playwright for web applications.

  • Work closely with engineers to identify key user flows and ensure they are properly covered by tests.

  • Improve existing test infrastructure to enhance reliability, readability, and execution speed.

  • Set up test environments, including mocks/stubs where needed.

  • Troubleshoot flaky tests and introduce stability improvements.

  • Contribute to documentation and best practices to make it easy for other developers to write tests in the future.

  • Occasionally advise developers on writing testable code or integrating testing into CI/CD.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript knowledge is a must).

  • Understands the value of deterministic, fast, and maintainable tests.

  • Is able to think strategically about test coverage and make informed decisions about priorities.

  • Can work independently and communicate proactively with developers and designers.

  • Has a strong understanding of web application behavior, frontend/backend interactions, and asynchronous flows.

  • Is comfortable using Git and modern development workflows.

  • Bonus: Experience integrating Playwright into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub CI is a plus).

  • Bonus: Background in frontend development, especially in React or Vue, is a plus.

Why you’ll love being part of the GTO Wizard team:

  • Autonomy & Flexibility: This is a flexible freelance role - you control your schedule.

  • Impactful Work: Your templates will be the face of our brand for thousands of readers.

  • Smooth Process: Work directly with an organized team that values clean code and clarity.

  • Passionate Community: Engage with a vibrant community of poker enthusiasts and professionals who are passionate about the game.

Engagement type: Part-time contractor (remote), ~10–20 hours per week

Duration: Initial contract 6 months, with potential for ongoing collaboration
