Front-end Developer (100% remote)
Who are we looking for?
Do you love writing clean, modern code and crafting seamless user experiences? We're looking for a proactive, innovative frontend developer with strong JavaScript skills (especially Stimulus.js), expert knowledge of CSS and TailwindCSS, and experience working with REST APIs and live data feeds. If you have great ideas, solid design sense, and aren't afraid to challenge the status quo, join our fully remote team to help build a global news platform that fights disinformation and redefines digital journalism.
About Us:
Newsmatics is an independent, privately held global News Tech company headquartered in Washington, D.C., focused on news technology platform development. Our activities cover media monitoring, custom media analysis, and advanced intelligence software applications. The company’s product line includes EIN Presswire, Affinity Group Publishing, Newsmatics News Index and Perspectify, among others. Our workforce consists of a global network of talented individuals focused on providing clarity and increasing transparency with respect to news content, while simultaneously striving to help fill local news deserts.
What should you bring?
- Deep knowledge of Javascript. You should be able to develop and maintain complex web applications using vanilla Javascript. Proficiency with modern frameworks (especially Stimulus.js) is a big advantage.
- You are an expert in CSS and TailwindCSS.
- Experience with integrating back-end APIs (especially REST API).
- Sharp design sense. You know what looks good and why. You can turn designs in Figma into beautiful, polished, responsive interfaces.
- You constantly look for ways to improve the user experience. You challenge the design and suggest better solutions where the UX may fall short. You improve flows, not just implement them.
- Product thinking. You think beyond the ticket that is assigned to you. You are not just laying brick next to a brick, you are building a cathedral.
- You always think about the performance, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
- Orientation for detail. You can spot the 1px misalignment before the QA does.
- You strive for clean and high-quality code. You write modular, testable, and maintainable code using best-in-class tools and patterns
- You are interested in data visualization. Experience in this area is an advantage.
- Pragmatism and proactive approach. You have a relentless drive to improve everything you touch and push things from good to great
As this is a transnational project, sufficient fluency in English should not be an issue for you.
How do we work?
- You will cooperate with product and UX teams to transform high-level requirements into a polished frontend with attention to details.
- We all work 100% remotely, but meet at least once a week for a regular call. We are in daily contact via Slack.
We develop software in an agile way in 2 weeks sprints. We do code reviews and try to share our know-how and develop professionally.
What do we offer?
- Self-employment contract
- Fully remote working environment
- Flexible working hours
- Cooperation on a major transnational news service project
- International team composed of enthusiastic specialists who can really shine on projects
- Open and friendly environment with communication via Slack and Google Meet
