Who we are

AIMS is a music-tech scaleup providing leading AI-powered music search and discovery solutions. We work with the world's biggest music and media companies — including Warner Chappell PM, Universal PM, Hipgnosis and 60+ others. We're entirely self-funded and profitable, operating as a remote-first team of music and tech lovers based all over the world.

Our story has been featured in Forbes and CzechCrunch.

Why we need you

As our client base grows, we need an experienced Senior Research Scientist to drive innovation in AI-powered music search and discovery. We're looking for a creative researcher who excels at developing novel algorithms and demonstrating their value through hands-on experimentation.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and experimentally validating state-of-the-art multimodal machine learning models for music understanding, retrieval, and recommendation. Your work will directly translate research results into tangible improvements for our core technology and enable new product features. While focused on research, you have strong implementation skills and a results-oriented mindset, ensuring your contributions move from concept to proven impact. Your expertise will be crucial in strengthening our position as a leader in AI-powered music intelligence.

What we use

  • Core ML & Research: Python, PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, NumPy, scikit-learn, CUDA
  • Data & Environment: MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Docker, Linux, NVIDIA GPUs

You'll fit right in if you've mastered:

  • Machine learning research — you can independently design experiments, implement models, and evaluate results
  • Neural network architectures — you have expert understanding of transformers and multimodal learning
  • Search and recommendation — you have experience applying information retrieval and personalization algorithms, especially in multimodal contexts
  • Python programming — you write clean, efficient code and are comfortable with modern ML frameworks
  • PyTorch proficiency
  • Problem solving — you can balance research exploration with practical product requirements
  • Technical communication — you can clearly explain complex concepts to various stakeholders
  • English — you have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Europe — we can meet in the same timezone and occasionally in person

What you don't need to know, but we appreciate if you do or if you're willing to learn

  • Experience with representation learning, developing embedding models, especially for text and audio
  • Experience with multimodal learning and cross-modal retrieval
  • Knowledge of similarity search technologies and vector indexing techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of music information retrieval or audio signal processing
  • Strong background in large language models
  • Experience with techniques for efficient adaptation of foundation models (fine-tuning, LoRA, etc.)
  • Experience with distributed training and large-scale model optimization
  • Proficiency in inference optimization and model quantization
  • Familiarity with music theory, audio production, or music composition
  • You can play a musical instrument :)

What we offer

  • Competitive salary based on skills and experience
  • Friendly teammates (who might actually read the papers you share on Slack)
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge ML research with real-world impact
  • Chance to be at the forefront of the AI revolution in the music business
  • Fully remote work possible (we have offices in Prague and Copenhagen)
