Sr. Technical Artist

  • On-site, Hybrid
  • Bratislava + 1 more
  • Full-time

At Charged Monkey, we are a team of talented and experienced game makers. Our ambitions are huge, and only a world-class team could achieve them. To date, we’ve built a team of incredibly talented individuals from all over the world, who together are bringing industry-defining games to life.

In partnership with SCOPELY, one of the biggest gaming studios worldwide (known for IPs like Star Trek™ Fleet Command, MONOPOLY GO!, etc.), we are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title.

We embrace AI-forward development practices and expect our engineers to be curious and pragmatic about how these tools can raise the bar.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Artist to join our team in Prague or Bratislava on a hybrid or remote basis.
Candidates from other countries are also welcome, however relocation to one of our employing entities is required.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to own and evolve our DCC and content integration pipelines, with a strong focus on Autodesk Maya tooling and Unity integration.

In this role, you will act as a bridge between Art and Engineering, ensuring that asset creation workflows are scalable, efficient, and production-ready. You will design and maintain tools in Maya, improve export and validation systems, and ensure seamless integration of assets into Unity.

This is a high-impact role requiring deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for empowering artists through robust and intuitive pipelines.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain Maya tools and scripts to support modeling, rigging, animation, and asset preparation workflows.
  • Build and improve DCC-to-Unity export pipelines, ensuring reliability, consistency, and scalability.
  • Develop validation and automation systems to guarantee asset quality and technical compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with Artists, Technical Artists, and Engineers to identify workflow bottlenecks and deliver effective solutions.
  • Support Unity-side integration, including import settings, asset post-processing, prefabs, and optimization workflows.
  • Leverage AI tools and agentic workflows in your daily work — from tech planning, code generation and review to exploring novel solutions.
  • Define and document best practices for asset creation and integration.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline issues and provide hands-on support to content teams.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions to ensure long-term pipeline sustainability.
  • Mentor other artists and technical artists in pipeline usage and best practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong professional experience as a Technical Artist in game development.
  • Advanced experience with Autodesk Maya, including Python scripting (and/or MEL).
  • Proven experience building and maintaining DCC tools and pipeline automation.
  • Solid experience integrating assets into Unity, including understanding of import pipelines and asset processing.
  • Strong understanding of real-time production constraints (performance, memory, LODs, optimization).
  • Hands-on experience working with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code) and an understanding of how agentic workflows can augment engineering productivity.
  • Experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams (Art, Design, Engineering, Production).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate artistic needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Strong sense of ownership and production awareness.
  • Familiarity with Perforce.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with rigging systems, animation workflows, or procedural content pipelines.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and large-scale asset management.
  • Experience building validation frameworks and automated QA checks for content.
  • Knowledge of shader workflows and material pipelines in Unity.
  • Experience working on cross-platform or live-service titles.
