Senior Python Engineer
We're hiring a Senior Python Engineer to join as a founding member of a 5-person team to manage and expand our ingestion pipeline. This is one of the most technically significant programs underway at the company — it will reshape how data is ingested, transformed, validated, and served across the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain and evolve Python microservices
- Lead technical design and execution across one or more migration phases, owning the delivery end-to-end
- Collaborate with the data infrastructure team to operate with Databricks
- Collaborate on the data migration from Snowflake to Delta Lake
- Define validation strategy for the reconciliation suite — row counts, checksums, business metrics — across both platforms during parallel run
- Set the technical bar through code reviews, architecture reviews, and engineering standards
- Drive the parallel run and cutover process: shadow mode → read cutover → write cutover → Snowflake decommission
- Mentor and support 2–3 engineers on the migration team through pairing, reviews, and design sessions
- Partner with your manager to co-own sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stakeholder communication for the migration program
- Shadow and participate in hiring for the remaining engineers on the team: resume review, technical interviews, debrief
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders (Data, Product, Platform)
- Contribute to incident management and on-call processes
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python, SQL, and distributed systems expertise
- Hands-on experience with Databricks — Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Auto Loader, DLT, or Databricks SQL Warehouses
- Experience leading or owning complex data migrations or re-platforming projects
- Strong understanding of Delta Lake: ACID transactions, MERGE INTO, schema evolution, Change Data Feed
- Experience with Apache Spark / PySpark for large-scale ETL
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and elevate team technical quality
- Strong communication skills — able to represent technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
- Genuine interest in growing into people management
Nice to have:
- Solid dbt experience — model development, incremental strategies, data testing; dbt-databricks adapter is a strong plus
- Prior experience with project or technical lead responsibilities, coordinating across multiple engineers
