Employers, health plans, and leading point solutions rely on us to provide trusted information, increase access, and deliver care
We're hiring a Senior Frontend / Full-Stack Engineer to join the Rostra platform team — the internal data platform that powers how health and care data is ingested, transformed, monitored, and surfaced across the organization. You'll be the primary owner of the frontend, building and evolving the interfaces that data teams, clinical operators, and product stakeholders use every day to interact with pipelines, quality dashboards, alerts, and AI-powered analytics.
This role sits at the intersection of frontend engineering and data platform work. You'll collaborate closely with backend Python engineers and data engineers, contribute to a GraphQL API layer, and help shape the experience of a platform that is in the middle of a major architectural migration from Snowflake to Databricks. If you care about building polished, performant interfaces for complex internal tooling — and want your work to directly impact how a healthcare company understands and acts on its data — this role is for you.
What you’ll do:
- Own and evolve the Rostra frontend — a Next.js 14 / React 18 / TypeScript application serving alerts, dashboards, pipeline configurations, and an AI chat interface
- Build and maintain data-rich UI components: complex data grids (AG Grid), composed charts (Recharts), and dynamic forms (React Hook Form) backed by real-time pipeline data
- Work with GraphQL and Apollo Client to design and consume API queries and mutations across the platform's data layer
- Collaborate with backend engineers to contribute to the GraphQL schema and, where needed, Next.js API routes and middleware
- Integrate and maintain Okta OIDC authentication flows and permission-based access controls (with RostraPermissionGuard)
- Contribute to the micro-frontend architecture using Module Federation — exposing and consuming remote pages across the shell application
- Maintain high code quality standards: TypeScript strict mode, ESLint, Prettier, React Testing Library, Jest, and Playwright E2E
- Participate in the platform's migration from Snowflake to Databricks by updating data-fetching layers, schemas, and lineage views in the frontend
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), Docker builds, and deployment workflows
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Data teams to translate complex data concepts into clear, usable interfaces
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, with React as your primary framework
- Strong TypeScript skills — comfortable with strict mode, generics, and typing complex data structures
- Hands-on experience with Next.js — Pages Router, middleware, SSR/SSG patterns, and deployment
- Solid GraphQL experience: writing queries and mutations with Apollo Client, understanding caching and pagination
- Experience building data-dense interfaces — tables, charts, filters, and drill-downs on large datasets
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries (Chakra UI, MUI, or similar)
- Strong testing discipline — React Testing Library, Jest, and ideally Playwright or Cypress for E2E
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where the backend is actively evolving
- Passion for craft: you care about performance, accessibility, and the small details that make internal tools feel great to use
Nice to have:
- Experience with micro-frontend architecture and Module Federation
- Familiarity with AG Grid for complex data table scenarios
- Experience integrating Okta or other OIDC providers in a React application
- Exposure to data platform concepts — pipelines, dbt, data quality, lineage
- Experience with New Relic or similar frontend APM/observability tooling
- Familiarity with React Hook Form and Zod or Yup for form validation
- Background working on internal developer or data tooling products
While working in Transcarent, you will enjoy the following benefits:
