AI-Native Backend Developer (LLM & Agentic Systems)
Immediate start · 100% remote
At FifthRow, we are building the future of AI-powered automation. Our platform delivers autonomous agents and workflow automation that turn complex strategy, research, and decision-making into software. We believe that workplace AI should do more than answer prompts - it should orchestrate, execute, and deliver measurable outcomes across entire business processes.
We are looking for an AI-native engineer who thinks beyond traditional backend work: someone who builds and iterates agentic systems, LLM-driven apps, and intelligent workflows that embody FifthRow’s mission - automate the work that used to take teams of experts, and deliver it as scalable software. You will help shape how autonomous agent teams, flows, and AI-based products are designed, tested, and evolved to drive real impact for enterprise customers.
What you’ll be doing
Design, build, and iterate on LLM-powered applications and agentic pipelines
Develop and maintain LangChain / LangGraph-based systems
Work with multi-agent architectures, orchestration, and tool-using agents
Reason about and improve complex agent workflows (state, memory, tools, routing, evaluation)
Collaborate as a product-thinking engineer—brainstorming features, flows, and AI-driven capabilities
Continuously experiment with new AI tools, models, and techniques, turning them into production value
Use AI to speed up development itself (code generation, refactoring, testing, evaluation, docs)
Contribute to system design with performance, scalability, and maintainability in mind
What we’re looking for (must-have)
AI & LLM Engineering
Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or similar (required)
Strong experience building LLM applications
Knowledge of RAG/CAG pipelines and integration with vector databases
Deep familiarity with agentic systems and orchestration patterns
Ability to understand, debug, and evolve non-trivial agent pipelines
Experience interacting with modern LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
AI-Native Development Practices
Comfortable working in AI-augmented IDEs and agent-driven workflows
Able to define, maintain, and evolve agent instructions and contracts (e.g. AGENTS.md)
Strong proactive testing mindset for AI systems (evaluation loops, regression testing, guardrails)
Understands agent failure modes, cost/performance tradeoffs, and reliability strategies
Uses AI to accelerate development intentionally, pragmatically, and safely
Knows how to instrument agent workflows for observability
Understands cost drivers of LLM usage
Backend & Engineering Fundamentals
Strong python experience
Solid understanding of OOP, DRY, SOLID
Experience building APIs and services (REST / GraphQL)
Experience with FastAPI / Flask / Django (any is fine)
Good knowledge of Git and collaborative workflows
Comfortable working in Agile teams
Performance-aware mindset
Nice to have (strong plus)
Frontend development principles (you don’t have to be a FE dev, but you “get it”)
Understanding of cloud-native development
Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP (certifications are a plus, not a requirement)
Exposure to production monitoring & evaluation of AI systems
Ability and willingness to join the team biweekly in our Prague office for in-person collaboration (especially for product, architecture, and planning sessions)
The mindset we care about most
Product- and business-oriented: you think in outcomes, not just code
Curious and fast-learning: AI changes daily, and you enjoy keeping up
Comfortable with ambiguity and iteration
Willing to brainstorm like a product owner, not just execute tickets
Pragmatic: you know when “good enough now” beats “perfect later”
Direct, honest, and collaborative
The journey with us
We believe in failing fast, learning faster, and turning insights into real products
Flat hierarchy, informal culture, high trust, strong ownership
We value people who speak up, challenge ideas, and care about what they build
What you can look forward to
Fully remote work
Working with smart, driven people who feel more like partners than coworkers
Unlimited vacation, as long as you’re learning and delivering
Exposure to real-world AI product challenges-not demos or experiments
A chance to shape how AI is actually used to build and scale businesses
